Like the last reviewer, I booked this hotel online with Expedia - which according the the absolutely RUDE staff, has been problematic for them!!I was travelling the country as a single parent traveller with my 7 year old daughter. Like the last reviewer, I arrived from the airport (flew in from Chengdu), and we arrived at approximately 4p.m. and all heck broke loose!Let's just say that by 6:30p.m. we were no closer to getting our guaranteed room. There is NO Wi-Fi area, so I could not show them my Expedia confirmation, and on top of that, my daughter was about to wet her pants because she had to use the washroom so badly. The lobby washroom was the most disgusting restroom I have ever seen, and didn't blame her for not wanting to use them. I saw squats in rural China cleaner than this one!I refused to pay, they refused to give us a room.I finally made them take me to their awful excuse for a business centre so they could see my confirmation on a computer - and they actually had the nerve to try and charge me for that too! They still said I had to pay to get the room, and that I could get my money back from Expedia.I told them to call my credit card company and they confirmed that I made the payment and it was a posted transaction... again, they tried to get me to pay for the "toll free" call they made!!At that point, I had enough fuel to get the manager to call her head office... the night was already almost over and ruined. My daughter still had not eaten and it was after 9p.m.The man there relented and said he would investigate it with Expedia, and instructed the manager to give us our room until the next day. I received NO apology for the time wasted or poor service.When we finally got our room, it was smelly from humidity, the air conditioning didn't work properly, and it was pretty unkempt and not that updated or clean.Because of the almost 5 hours it took to get a result (read: the customer is definitely not right at this hotel!) we overslept in the morning and could not go where we had wanted to go which meant we would have to stay an extra night because we would have to do the Li River cruise the next morning. I paid for that one nnight because I had originally only booked two nights on-line.Moral of the story, there are way better choices in Guilin - I am sure of it!This hotel lacks customer service, clean accomodations, and the food is also way overpriced. We didn't even eat breakfast there!Tip for parents, the pool is only deep. My daughter is 4 ft 4 in and she had to stand on tip toes in the pool. There is no shallow end.Also, if you need to get back to the airport, it is hard to get a taxi - they don't want to run their meter to the airport, and it costed about 120.00 RMB + all tolls - you'd be better to get an airport shuttle out of one of the other hotels! Unfortunately we had to get to the airport quick, and needed to take a taxi. mehr
